Fall Season

The weather will soon change in Sacramento. Mornings and evenings will be cooler and daylight shorter.  It also means leaves changing colors, apple and pumpkins picking. My family enjoys going to the farm and picking our own pumpkins.

Our favorite place to go is Davis Ranch in Sloughhouse. Every year they hold festivals. This upcoming year, there will be one on October 8th and 9th. Admission is free. Once there, you can see many vendors with handmade gifts. You can get a crochet hat to a hand carved wooden sculpture. Did I mention food? Oh yes, there is food! You can get your typical hamburger and hot dog but you can also find BBQ food, Lumpia (yup! There is a Filipino vendor that comes every year), sometimes pizza and steamed corn on the cob. Mmmm.

There is games too for the kiddies. A bouncy house and a mini hay maze. There is an adult corn maze too for those who feel adventurous. They are pony rides for the kiddies. Live bands play music through out the day. There is also a pumpkin carving contest.  Some of those contestants do some amazing things with their pumpkins!

They are free tractor rides to go to the fields where you can pick your own pumpkins. They have many different varieties of them and the kids seem to enjoy going to the fields. After the tractor ride comes back to the farm, there is a picnic area where you can enjoy the food or bring your own! Don't forget to stop by the market! Fresh produce at a reasonable price.

If you are thinking of doing something fun, come to Davis Ranch and enjoy the day. We will be going this year since this is a tradition we had started almost 10 years ago. Hope to seeing you there too!

A Bientot!
