Organization In The Home Office

Over the years, I've come to notice that month after month, you keep telling yourself that you're going to clean up the office and organize it. The problem is that it never gets done, other things come up and keep you from that date with destiny. In order to tackle this job you'll need a plan of attack, here are a few ideas that I have found useful in my daily life to keep things organized and in the proper space.

Paper Purging - You have to know when to purge files or keep them. We generally check the mail and most of the time coupons, junk mail and the important stuff gets piled in one area and we tell ourselves we'll clear it all out on the weekend. Take the time when you get the mail to sort everything into a proper system. A simple idea is to have three banker boxes, label them shred, to file, and take action.

Create a Mail Station - Like many of us that work from home or even those that have a 9-5, it's easier to have a file station for incoming and outgoing bills, letters, etc. You can pick these up pretty cheaply at any store like Walmart.

Using a Label Maker - I love the idea of tagging my items and folders so that I can easily identify what I need at the moment and where to find it. It's helpful to organize paperwork and place them in file folders with a label on it.

Utilize Wall Space - Not something I have done yet, but I am realizing that using the wall for files, folders, books, etc. can become a worthy space saving idea.
